UNIDO has established multiple centers; the Investment Project Assessment Center, the Investment Service Network Center, Investment Consulting Center, and Overseas Investment Service Center which includes the QC unit, the Enterprise Innovation Unit.

The focus of UNIDO ITPO-China is to promote investment and technology transfer between China, more developed countries, and less developed countries. UNIDO ITPO-China is a mobilizing force for various resources and funding, providing investment promotion and technology service to agencies and entrepreneurs inside and outside of China in all fields and on all levels. Provided by UNIDO-ITPO are an intermediary service for investors, finance information, construction services for capacity building of agencies, agent services in oversea investment and international market entry consultation. In addition, UNIDO ITPO-China is connected to the United Nations global industrial development system via the Internet.

UNIDO ITPO-China carries out project evaluations, utilizes the global system of investment and technology promotion, advances methods of communication and professional specialization while, all the time, making use of the extensive information resources of UNIDO. UNIDO ITPO-China has been following the international requirements for the professional project assessment issued by UNIDO, using the most advanced model, COMFAR III, for opportunities analysis, sensitivity analysis, pro-opportunity and feasibility studies, so that entrepreneurs and local governments can more thoroughly exploit investment opportunities, project financing and international cooperations.

UNIDO ITPO-China plays an important role by:
