- DESCRIPTION:
- Mawei Shipyard , founded in 1866, was
the biggest shipbuilding base in far-east area. But it was ever
destroyed. From 1956, it was rebuilt as local state-owned shipbuilding
& repairing yard. It was the first time that 5000DWT coastal
cargo vessel was built in 1983. Later on various kinds of vessels
have been built and now it can built the vessel with capacity
more than 10,000 DWT. From 1993 the yard has built 12 vessels,
10 of which were export to Germany, 2 were export to Hongkong.
Now there are 2 still in the building. The yard enjoys good reputation
in the ship market in west-Europe and South-east Asia and was
known by good building German vessels. Mawei Shipyard is affiliated
to Fujian Shipbuilding Industry Group. It is located in Mawei
Economic & Technical Development Zone along Min River with
land area 330,000 sq meters and water area 15,600 sq meters. The
water depth of wharf is 7m. The main facilities are as follows:
one 35,000 DWT slipway, one 10,000 DWT slipway and one 3,000 DWT
slipway; 274m outfitting wharf and various kinds of marine machinery
producing plants; one 5,000T dry dock; two gantry crane of 40T;
two overhead cranes relatively of 25T and 20T; two overhead cranes
of 15T; two portal cranes relatively of 30Tand 20T; welding plat
form 7,227 sq meters; stowage and pre out fitting platform of
5,700 sq meters. The employees now is 1992. The purpose of the
project is to improve and optimize the yard's shipbuilding production
line based on fully taking advantage of the existing facilities
and make the building towage grade, output, composite production
ability of the yard to enter a new stage.
